FIRST AID TRAINING IN ESSEX

Learn What To Do In An Emergency

The Importance Of First Aid Training

There are numerous reasons to begin a first aid training programme beyond the requirement for professional purposes. Having the knowledge of first aid training can help you in many ways across both your work life and personal life.

Do more than save lives by potentially being the difference between an extended or short recovery. Gain the confidence to act with efficiency and control in situations where you need to. First aid training gives you the tools to prevent situations from becoming worse by understanding what you need to cope in many critical situations. Knowledge of basic care empowers you to look after a patient until the medical services arrive, keeping them comfortable and safe.

Looking after yourself and ensuring your own safety is always your top priority as it means you will always be in a position to help those that need it. You will learn how to do this while understanding the importance of a healthy lifestyle.

Which First Aid Course Do I Need?

Which First Aid course is right for you will depend on what you do or where you work.

Our first aid courses meet the UK and European Resuscitation Council Guidelines 2021 as per the HSE requirements.  For those working in land-based professions such as forestry, our courses include the extra subjects required by the Forestry Commission such as severe cuts, crush injuries, hypothermia and Lyme disease.

How Many First Aiders Do I Need In My Workplace?

After carrying out a first aider risk assessment you will be in the position to understand how many first aiders your workplace requires. The Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 law states that employers must make adequate and appropriate first aid equipment, facilities and number of qualified first aiders in the workplace. The wording can be a little ambiguous in terms of the number of qualified first aiders available to make sure the law is being followed. So, in reality, there is no correct number specified by law that determines the number of first aiders your workplace may need.

The HSE recommends that if you work in a company with 5-50 workers, there should be at least one person trained in first aid. Another first-aider should be in place for every 50 workers after that. It must also be noted that high risk workplaces, such as agriculture and forestry, require first aiders who have taken a first aid course that meets the principles of assessment set out by the HSE.
