This course is for individuals with some experience of operating tractors and ancillary machinery as part of their work in agriculture, horticulture, forestry, landscaping or other industries. One-day training and assessment provides the knowledge, understanding and skills required to prepare and operate a tractor and attachments safely and to industry standards in line with current legislation. Topics covered include safe driving of a tractor, pre-use maintenance, safety checks and recognition of controls and instruments, safe driving, reversing with a trailer, trailer hitching, attaching 3-point linkage and Power Take Off (PTO) driven attachments.
The course is delivered on a 2:1 ratio — two tractors and two candidates with one instructor — ensuring each candidate benefits from extensive hands-on driving time. Inexperienced operators may require further training.
