Felling Trees up to 380mm (C&G NPTC) 0039-21

This course provides the knowledge, understanding and practical skills required to fell small trees up to 380 mm safely and to industry standards, in line with current legislation.  The C&G NPTC practical assessment takes place on a separate day.

Topics covered include: Risk assessment and emergency planning, Relevant legislation and industry best practice, Environmental considerations, Recognition of disease, decay, and structural defects, Modification of felling methods to suit conditions, Setting up supports and establishing safe working positions, Felling techniques and felling cuts, Pre‑start checks and site preparation, Dealing with hung‑up trees, Use of aid tools, Branch removal and brash management, Crosscutting timber to length, Stacking timber and waste disposal.

To achieve this qualification candidates must successfully complete a one‑to‑one practical assessment with oral questioning, carried out by a City & Guilds NPTC approved assessor.
