Course Overview:

Unit 201 – Safe Use of a Mobile Elevated Work Platform

 

This course is suitable for individuals working in arboriculture, horticulture, construction, facilities management and other sectors where MEWP use is essential.

One‑day training and assessment provides the knowledge, understanding and practical skills required to prepare and operate a Mobile Elevated Work Platform (MEWP) safely and to industry standards, in line with current legislation.  Topics covered include: Health and safety requirements and operator responsibilities, Risk assessment and hazard awareness, Relevant legislation and industry best practice, Site preparation and environmental considerations, Pre‑use checks, routine maintenance and fault reporting, Safe and effective operation of the MEWP.

Training is available on the following MEWP types: Scissor Lift, Vehicle-Mounted, Trailed, Vertical Personnel Platform, Self-Propelled (recommended for chainsaw work).

To achieve this qualification delivered by a City & Guilds NPTC approved assessor candidates must successfully complete a one‑to‑one practical assessment with oral questioning.

Location:

Training and assessment will take place at your premises using your own equipment.  If preferred training can take place at our premises in Ongar, however you must provide your own equipment.
