Unit 201 – Tractor driving and related operations
Unit 202 – Operate a loader on a tractor
Tractors are extremely useful and versatile pieces of machinery that have great value across many different sectors. However, they have the potential to be very dangerous when in the hand of an inexperienced operator. To minimise the likelihood of accidents and to increase the effective use of a tractor relevant training must be taken. Even if you are an experienced tractor driver, updating your knowledge and skills is very important.
Our City & Guilds NPTC certificated course will ensure you finish the training being able to safely operate a tractor with confidence. Once successfully completed you will receive a certificate of competence and you’ll also have lots of hands-on experience behind the wheel.
Course Objectives:
- Carry out a risk assessment
- Safely enter and leave the cab
- Understand the instrumentation
- Understand all the controls
- Know the hazards associated with the controls
- Start and stop the engine in safely
- Competent drive a tractor forward and reverse
- Leave the tractor in a safe state
- Undertake daily checks
- Checking of the lubrication, cooling and air intake of the engine
- Perform basic lubrication and ensure the tractor is in a safe state
- Attach a mounted implement and undertake manoeuvres
- Attach a trailed implement and manoeuvre in a forward and reverse direction
- Leave unattached implements in a safe state
- Correctly attach a PTO shaft between tractor and implement
- Attach the PTO shaft guards correctly
- Assess the minimum turning circle of the machine and the angle of the PTO shaft
- Carry out basic operations using tractor mounted loader
Who Is This Course For?:
D J Gemmill’s City & Guilds NPTC tractor driving course is suitable for all tractor drivers, from novices to experienced drivers. It has been developed to accommodate people required to drive a tractor or those already driving a tractor in agriculture, amenity, forestry, industrial and horticulture industries.
Location:
Training will take place at your premises using your own equipment, each course can accommodate up to 4 candidates.
Duration:
1 to 4 days depending on your requirements and level of experience.
Cost:
eg 1 day training for 4 up to candidates £780 + £100 vat = £880 (location may be subject to a mileage charge)
