Our Pesticide Application Courses
DJ Gemmill provides a range of pesticide application courses and assessments.
The term “PESTICIDES” is defined as any substance, preparation or organism that is prepared for or used to control any pest. The term covers Pesticides and Plant Protection Products (PPPs).
These qualifications are for anyone whose job involves applying professional pesticide products. It is a legal requirement under the Plant Protection Products (Sustainable Use) Regulations (2012) to hold an approved qualification.
- PA1 – Principles or Safe Handling and Application of Pesticides is the foundation course and must be achieved before progressing to practical application modules.
Each module is broken down into units which ensure you are trained to use your specific equipment safely and effectively. We commonly offer:
- PA2A – Operating Mounted, Trailed and Self Propelled Hydraulic Nozzle or Rotary Atomiser Horizontal Boom Sprayers
- PA4A – Operating Mounted or Trailed Placement Applicators
- PA4B – Operating Mounted or Trailed Broadcast Applicators
PA4S Slug Pellet Applicators and PA4G Granular Applicators have been replaced with PA4A Placement Applicators and PA4B Broadcast Applicators. The rationale behind this is to refer to the machine rather than the pesticide.
- PA6A – Operating Pedestrian Handheld Applicators Fitted with Hydraulic Nozzles or Rotary Atomisers to apply Pesticide to Lane
- PA6AW – Operating Pedestrian Handheld Applicators Fitted with Hydraulic Nozzles or Rotary Atomisers to apply Pesticide to or near Water
If you are not yet certified but need to use pesticides, you MUST work under the direct supervision of someone who holds the required qualifications. The supervisor MUST be able to always see and hear you.
Choose the application method you require below, or get in contact with us and we’ll guide you through your options, helping you choose the training that best suits your needs and experience level.
