Course Overview
CPD Module 004 – Using a Chainsaw from a Rope and Harness
This CPD module is for qualified aerial chainsaw operators who already hold a Level 2 Certificate of Competence in Using a Chainsaw from a Rope and Harness, and under the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER), are required to undergo refresher training every 3 to 5 years. One-days training focuses on the practical skills required to comply with legislation, industry technical standards, and best practices. Candidates will complete scored skills tests, each with a minimum required score to successfully complete the CPD module. The module is led by a C&G NPTC approved assessor, who will provide feedback on the candidate’s performance and advise of any recommendations required.
Chainsaws are potentially hazardous machines and could cause serious injury or even death. A reasonable level of physical fitness is therefore required to undertake the practical elements of this course.
Candidates MUST provide their own tree climbing equipment compliant with LOLER Regulations. This means providing a receipt of purchase if equipment is less than 6 months old. Or, produce evidence the equipment has been thoroughly examined by a “competent person” within the last 6 months. In addition, weekly inspections must have been carried out and recorded, with documentation available to verify this.
