This one‑day training and assessment programme is designed for individuals who operate a leaf blower as part of their work in horticulture, arboriculture or forestry. Whether using a combi tool, backpack blower or dedicated machine, the course provides the essential knowledge and practical skills needed to operate a leaf blower safely, efficiently and in line with current legislation. Topics covered include Pre‑use checks and routine maintenance, Identification and correct use of controls and instruments, Safe and effective operation of the machine to blow or collect leaves within the capacity of the equipment, Industry best practice and safe‑working techniques.

Leaf blower, Combi tool or Backpack blower as per HSE guidance with relevant operator’s manual (paper or electronic copy).
Basic maintenance toolkit.
Fuel and oil in approved container(s).

Hearing protection to EN352.
Eye protection/ mesh visor complying with BS EN 1731.
Gloves – adequate to protect hands against flying debris.
Non snag clothing which provides full cover for arms and legs (preferably high vis).
Steel toe capped boots or shoes.
